#MusicMonday Jan 27 – 2014
We kickoff AAOP’s first #MusicMonday with a selection of 7 eclectic tracks. These picks are sounds generated from the music genome app Songza. My first introduction to Songza’s “Music Concierge” feature was very pleasant. Users are able to select playlist based on mood, activity, and listening preference. My go-to selection on Songza lately has been Brand New Music -> Internet Famous -> Before It Breaks: Winter 2014 / Blogged 50 / Obsessively New (all these are great!).
This delve into the world of Songza has renewed my enjoyment of discovering and sharing new music. Journey with me through these 7 tracks that’ll add some good vibrations to your Monday
1) Into The Thicket -U.S. Royal
U.S. Royalty — These guys are a D.C. based quadro. You know, not a duo or trio, but a four person band…Anyways, their sound and music are MUCH better than my jokes. They also just had an album release recently.
2) Love More, Worry Less – Bipolar Sunshine
Bipolar Sunshine – UK based artist and musican. When I first heard this song, I knew right away it had to be featured. It’s got this strange electric earthy hip vibe to it. The video to this track also doesn’t disappoint.
3) Over Your Shoulder – Chromeo
4) You’re In Love – Betty Who
Betty Who – Australian singer-songwriter and musician. This song has an airy and poppy vibe to it. Easy on the ears, but also very artistic. She’s a Berklee trained and studied musician — so that could explain it 😉 .
5) Try – The XX
The XX – English indie pop band. I ran into this a group some time ago (no thanks to Songza). Their sound just stuck with me, especially this particular track. The video is pretty cool too, looks like it was shot in South Africa…not sure if it’s fan made or what, but it’s perfect .
6) How Loud Your Heart Gets – Lucius
Lucius is a pretty fun listen. They’re an Indie Pop Rock band based in Brooklyn, NY. They’re currently touring the West Coast and Southwest USofA right now. To all the Texas homies, they just finished up Houston, but you can catch them in Dallas Tuesday 01/28 and Austin Wednesday 01/29.
7) Valley Of The Sun – U.S. Royalty
Yep, U.S. Royalty was so good I listed them twice. This song really makes me long for the next time I’ll be able to do a road trip. The beats light, tempos steady, free flowing lyrics and the music just moves ya.
Music is a beautiful and fascinating thing. I’m always envious, and most importantly inspired, by those that are capable of producing genuine sounds of high quality. To the singers, musicians, artists and all of us with our inner rockstars — keep rockin’ and vibin’! Happy Monday! -MK
